“Cheese is my love language”
Everyone’s favourite perfectly pampered and ridiculously relatable indoor cat Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt, Guardians of the Galaxy) is about to have a crazy outdoor adventure in the big, wide world. After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father, the tough and scruffy street cat Vic (Samuel L. Jackson, Pulp Fiction), Garfield and his canine pal Odie (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows) get forced into joining Vic on a hilarious, high-stakes heist. Vic is trying to escape the clutches of villainous Persian cat Jinx (Hannah Waddingham, The Fall Guy), and Garfield and Odie must go way beyond their cosy comfort zones to rescue him.
This adaptation is much truer to the original comic strip artwork of creator Jim Davis, than the very of-its-time live-action film adaptation Garfield: The Movie (2004) with Bill Murray voicing the titular orange tabby (let’s not even mention the 2006 sequel Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties). This new film is very funny, action-packed, and has an absolutely stacked voice cast. Other supporting cast members include Nicholas Hoult (The Menu) as Garfield’s human Jon, Ving Rhames, Cecily Strong, Bowen Yang, Brett Goldstein and even Snoop Dogg as Snoop Catt, an eyepatch-wearing Maine Coon.
