Revisit the stratospheric blockbuster that started it all, and completely redefined what movies could (and would) be, with this rare opportunity to see George Lucas’s 1977 space opera Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope in cinemas in a brand new 4K restoration. Nineteen years after the formation of the Empire, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is thrown into the struggle of the Rebel Alliance when he meets Obi-Wan Kenobi, who has lived for years in seclusion on the desert planet of Tatooine. Obi-Wan begins Luke’s Jedi training as Luke joins him on a daring mission to rescue the beautiful Rebel leader Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) from the clutches of Darth Vader and the evil Empire.
May the Fourth be with you. There's no better day to revisit this film on the big screen than on ‘Star Wars Day’, especially this stunning new 4K restoration. The U.S. Library of Congress chose this first instalment of Star Wars as one of the first 25 titles to be marked for preservation by the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" – among other greats like Citizen Kane and Vertigo. George Lucas found inspiration for parts of the story from Akira Kurosawa’s wonderful 1958 film The Hidden Fortress, a film we highly recommend any Star Wars fans seek out.
