This original Disney musical-comedy follows Asha (voiced by Ariana DeBose, Academy Award-winner for West Side Story), a sharp-witted idealist who lives in the magical kingdom of Rosas. Asha senses a darkness in the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico (Chris Pine), that no one else seems to see. One night, she makes a wish so powerful that it’s answered by a cosmic force – an adorable ball of boundless energy called Star. Asha and Star must work together to save the Rosas community, and prove that when the will of one courageous person connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Walt Disney Studios celebrated their 100th (!) birthday in 2023 and Wish commemorates this milestone anniversary by lovingly combining the original watercolour animation style that inspired Walt himself, with the computer animation that Disney uses in its modern period. The film has all the hallmarks of classic Disney animations: soaring ballads, a plucky talking animal sidekick providing comic relief (Valentino the goat, voiced by Alan Tudyk), and moments of unmitigated wonder. Wish’s directing, producing and writing teams have collectively worked on Frozen, Frozen 2, Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto so you’re in good hands.
